Rebates and Incentives: New Jersey
posted at 2017-08-09
New Jersey's Home Performance with ENERGY STAR® Program offers generous rebates and low-interest loans to homeowners to upgrade their homes to more energy efficient and comfortable dwellings. The program, which is administered by the Board of Public Utilities and its Clean Energy Program™, has upgraded the energy efficiency of over 30,000 homes in NJ since 2006.
The program not only saves energy and money, but it addresses health and safety issues prior to making a home more energy efficient. Excessive moisture, combustion by-products and improper appliance venting must be resolved prior to a contractor air sealing cracks, gaps and holes and installing insulation and new heating and cooling systems. Additionally, the program may be beneficial to anyone suffering from asthma, sinus issues, migraines and headaches to help reduce the severity of their symptoms. If a homeowner is experiencing cold, drafty or hot and stuffy rooms, the contractor will recommend solutions to remedy their common indoor air quality problems.
Currently, New Jersey's Home Performance Program offers rebates of up to $4,000 in addition to a 0% interest loan of up to $10,000 for 7 years or a 4.99% interest loan of up to $15,000 for 10 years. A detailed incentive chart may be found on the website.
Dianne from Hillsborough shared her experience with the program: "We are very pleased with our experience. Everyone involved was informative and helpful. The process took only one day. We were amazed to see the difference and feel the difference. I highly recommend every homeowner consider evaluating the energy efficiency of their home. We are sleeping better at night knowing our new units are the most efficient and reliable. We also feel better knowing we are reducing our carbon footprint."
